When Lindsay and Aria booked my company, A Day Like No Other, to help them with their wedding coordination, they had a beautiful story to share with me: highschool sweethearts, their relationship survived – and grew stronger – over years of long distances to bridge… and all those of their classmates who had predicted an eventual separation lost out on their bets! YES, bets – their classmates actually placed bets on Lindsay’s and Aria’s longterm relationship, and the two wanted to hand the winner his well-deserved check at their wedding reception!
So we had a lot to plan toward… including a sofreh (an ornate Persian wedding spread) to honor Aria’s cultural heritage. It would be a labor of love by his mother and brother. So many details to consider! But finally, the Big Day had come.
For Lindsay, her sister and both Moms, the program started with hair styling by Jennica Leys and makeup services by Beaute by Erica;

… and then everyone transferred over to the wedding venue – historic Kohl Mansion in Burlingame, the perfect backdrop for romantic couple’s portraits –

Lindsay got into her dress with the help of her Maid of Honor (her sister!) and her mother…

… and then she got her bridal bouquet (by Flowers by Jordan Marie) handed to her. She loved it! Now she was ready for her First Look.
Is Aria also ready?

After that, the two had to take many more photos…

… while all the vendors were hard at work, supervised and orchestated by the production team of A Day Like No Other: the Persian food caterer Lavash.. was preparing hors d’oeuvres and dinner while Le Papillon, acting as the service caterer, put together the bar, the place settings for dinner and a thousand other things. Floral decor by Flowers by Jordan Marie was set up – notably, Jordan also served as our photographer; and both she and videographer Hayley of Redwood Reverie Films were busy capturing all those precious moments. DJ Stefano of Big Fun Disc Jockeys had set up sound and lights to be ready to go for the ceremony, the groom’s mother and brother had set up the sofreh (which turned out very beautiful)… and the uncle of the groom served as their officiant.

The ceremony followed both the Western format and also honored Persian traditions, for example, the rubbing of sugar above the couple’s heads, symbolizing the sweetness of marriage.

After the ceremony, guests were invited to cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the picturesque courtyard, while the newlyweds had even more photos taken, with and without their family members.

Then it was time for the couple’s Grand Entrance to dinner in the historic, double-height Great Hall…

… and over the delicious meal prepared by Lavash Catering and served by Le Papillon, it was time for toasts, speeches – and the reveal of the winner of the historic high school bet on the outcome of Lindsay’s and Aria’s romance!

Putting all those naysayers to shame!!
What else was happening? Cutting their charming presentation cake (by Sugar Butter Flour) …

… and then: Dancing, of course! DJ Stefano played for the newlyweds’ First Dance and everything thereafter – keeping the crowd on the dance floor!

It was such a joyful, beautiful, elegant celebration – truly unforgettable. Keep dancing together, Lindsay and Aria!
